Work Retreat

Every year in May the company that Preston works for has a strategic planning meeting and weekend retreat. For me this means swimming, relaxing, reading and other fun-filled activities. The past few years the retreat has been at the Homestead in Midway, but this year they decided to try The Lodges at Deer Valley. It was beautiful! We could not have asked for better weather. Our room was enormous! It was nearly twice the size of our apartment, and came with an amazing kitchen, a washer and dryer, a balcony, and two bathrooms to name a few. This is a picture of our room that I took while sitting on the couch.

On Saturday before the company dinner, Preston and I went on a walk around Deer Valley. There are lots of little paths, and gorgeous rivers.

Friday night on our way up we ate at Baja Cantina, and on our way down from the retreat we had brunch at the Eating Establishment, which I used to eat at with my family when I was little. It was a great weekend! This is us at the company dinner on Saturday night.

Cute Husband

So the other day at work, I noticed that I had missed a call from Pres. When I had a break between classes I called him back. After talking with him for a minute, he told me that I needed to go check my car. I was completely puzzled. He should be at work? Well it turns out that he left early since his work retreat was that weekend and had put flowers in my car. How sweet is that? Thanks sweetie!

Happy Mother's Day!

As a tradition on Mother's Day, I cook a big dinner for our moms. This year was my mom's turn. I really love cooking dinner. It's one of my favorite things. (Except during the week we usually don't eat until late because of work.) I especially love making Mother's Day dinner when I get out all of my serving dishes and tablecloth. Preston even knows how to fold our nice cloth napkins in some oragami like shape. I feeling like I am playing house when I was little, or at least with one of those easy bake oven kitchen sets.
For dinner we had a delicious pot roast with veggies and rolls. As an appetizer I made an amazing strawberry poppyseed salad with marinated mushrooms, avocados, red onion and strawberries. For dessert my mom loves lemon, and so I made this delicious lemon chiffon cake, whose topping is whipped cream and lemon pudding. Doesn't it look yummy? We also got a chance to take Mother's Day cards to our grandmas. It was a fun filled Mother's Day! I love you mom!

Only 1 more year of school! I am so proud of him. He has been through so much and has worked so hard! He has even gone to school full time while working full time to support our family. I love him so much! Congratulations sweetheart!
