a couch, a game, and good friends

Had a pretty busy week considering it was shorter, but it really wasn't that interesting. I had some school and I worked, Melissa did more of the same except she got to go to lunch with one of her friends and caught up on life. They went to Go Sushi, I was pretty jealous.
Miss and Lara at Lunch

So this weekend we got a couch Nicole and Bryce donated to the foster family fund. That was sure nice of them. The donation went to a foster family in need. Thanks also should go to Mike and Madison for giving up their time and truck for the pickup.

Saturday I got my hair cut... That was neat. I also took care of some car stuff. I changed the oil and what not. We also had another game night. It was pretty fun only Missy is a poor sport if I win. I don't get it. We still had fun. I love Uno Attack it just brings a smile to my face when you see someone get hit with a face load of cards. Anyway that was a brief post for the weekend. Its late and I am working on a sweet playlist for my ipod. All 90's goodness. I can't wait to listen to it.

Birthday Weekend

Preston has the birthday that just never seems to end. On Thursday (his actual birthday) we went to breakfast with his parents before he headed to work and that evening we went to Tres Hombres which is always scrumptious and then back to our place for cake and ice cream. It was fun to spend the evening with friends and family. (The list included both our families and Mike and Madison as well as Em and Ryan)

Check out the festivities. I had so many candles that I had to count!

This is our good friends Mike and Madison. She just cut off a foot of hair! Look how cute it is!Preston is always thrilled to get an i tunes gift card. Music is his favorite past time.I made Em cut the cake because I didn't want to ruin it. Look at how delicious it looks!

This last picture is of Preston and his mom!

On Friday we headed up to the Foster cabin for his 2nd annual birthday retreat. A good time was had by all. The fun finally had to come to an end Monday evening as we packed up to head home. Luckily this year I didn't crash any snowmobiles (probably because I didn't drive one ;-) But it was still fun to go sledding and play in the snow. We had some of our good friends come up. Em and Ryan are practically family now. We see them so much! They are so great. Also it was fun to have my cute friend Marie and her hubbie and her cute little girl Hailey come up. My favorite part of the cabin was the games (except Monopoly) to which I lost after my dear sweet husband put a hotel on his property. I was a little bit bitter. (Just ask him) But we had a few good rounds of Uno Attack ( my personal favorite) and we learned a new fun game called Hit the Deck. This is the sign above the ranch! Look at how much snow! This is the whole gang that came up the first night. Us, Em and Ryan and Marie Kevin and Hailey.I thought this picture of Marie's family was so adorable. I just love Hailey's smile!

Just chillin with the Ladies!

Em and Ryan stayed the whole time. I love Em's hair straight. It is beautiful!

I am not quite sure what I was eating, let alone what is in Ryan's mouth!

I thought that this picture of the barn taken from inside the cabin was pretty neat. I was just messing around with our new camera.

Two Years

So I can't believe that on Sunday we celebrated two years! Technically it's not our anniversary, but it would be if we didn't get married (if that makes any sense.) Plus I believe that there can never be too many holidays in the year. Time flies. I was so blessed to have met Preston two years ago! He is so great and I love him sooo much! Plus it's his birthday today! He is 26! Happy Birthday! I love you hon!We had fun playing around with our new camera that we got for Christmas. I kinda like the black and white!

Blog More!

I was looking through all the friends I have on Facebook and I thought to myself that I wish more of them would blog more or just blog at all. Its hard to keep tabs on everyone and what they are up to. In my opinion Facebook and definitely Myspace are overrated. No one ever really comments and talks to me... That could be post unto itself(maybe nobody likes me ;-). Plus I get these stupid spam messages all the time from girls that want me to go to their website and look at their "pictures"...no thanks. Myspace definitely has a small place in my heart because that's how I met my sweetheart, but now it just seems useless. Blogs are far superior and I am glad we started one. Its kind of like a journal of sorts. Anyway for all of our many readers if you don't have a blog GET ONE NOW!!

It's official folks!

Pretty sure I ran a Dars report today (degree audit report) for those of you that don't go to the U. All of the requirements were green and said that all the degree requirements have been met. Life is good. Now I just have to wait for the diploma. Hooray for me!!!!!

Great Weekend!

We had quite the exciting weekend. Look how beautiful the weather was! And not only were we able to hang out with six friends and their boyfriends/spouses, but I was finally able to mail off my Pharmacy application Friday afternoon. Go me!

On friday night, we met up with our friends Nicole and Bryce, and Em and Ryan for dinner at Red Lobster (which yes Cody is a chain and I had never been there until that night :-) I had popcorn shrimp (always a delightful choice), and Preston had the Ultimate Feast which included lobster and crab (my fave). Then we headed back to our place and met up with Steph and had a fun evening of games. I am getting better about not throwing tantrums when I lose. (A trait from my childhood that I never quite got over, and thus my parents stopped playing games with me) I didn't win the whole night, and I hardly got upset! Uno Attack is my personal favorite. We also played Battle of the Sexes which is the hardest game. I swear I didn't even know half of the questions that I was asking the boys. It was a great night though! And Nicole even showed me the best way to mix the butter and salt on popcorn (thank goodness for syran wrap)

On Saturday Preston and I went up the canyon to go snowboarding and try out our new snow attire. (Keep in mind the coat is his birthday present which isn't until Thursday but I let him wear it anyway.) We got up to Brighton and the parking lot was full and the last thing I wanted to do was hike up canyon. So we decided on Solitude. The original forecast was supposed to be cloudy, but it turned out to be a beautiful day and was gorgeous and sunny. Solitude has a system where you get a pass and put it in your pocket and a scanner scans it before you get on the lift, so no more stickers to put on your coat! Always a bonus because A. They never come off and B. It is nearly impossible to align the two ends. Solitude was great. It was fun to go on new runs.

This was our $24 lunch! (It's almost as bad as the price of food at disneyland!)The only downside of the day was all the flat places which are super lame on a snowboard since you are constantly taking your board on and off. Well the only other part that wasn't my favorite was when it started to get dark and we got to the top of a lift and we went down a hill that had moguls. (how on earth you do that on a snowboard is beyond me.) I think I snow plowed the whole way down. ( We are pretty sure it was a black diamond run) It was at that moment I wished I had my skiis. Skiing is like walking to me, but snowboarding is another story. I can get down the hill and carve, but I am not very confident. Pretty much I like to take it SLOW.

Then the fiascos of the day. The fact that we left the resort at 4:20 and got down at 5:50, which is why Preston is making this lovely face that gives him a double chin, and then on the way to the Jazz game I-80 was down to 1 lane. What a joke! Well we finally made it. And I felt awful because Marie and Kevin were already there and were waiting for us since we had their tickets. Madison and Mike made it about half time because poor Madison felt sick and they had to get off trax and walk from 4th south to the Energy Solutions Arena. (Doesn't it just roll off your tongue?) It ended up being an awesome game (except for the last two minutes where all they do is foul each other to buy more time... seriously ridiculous) At the game we ran into Lara and Ryan who have dated since Lara and I were juniors in high school. It was so great because all of us went to dinner and dessert after the game at PF Changs. I got my personal favorite (Lettuce Wraps and The Great Wall of Chocolate) What was hilarious though was that Mike and Madison decided to walk from the game over since their wasn't enough room in our car. And yet they got there before we even got out of the parking garage. We drove both Mike and Madison and Marie and Kevin to their cars and so they were crammed in our backseat. It felt like high school all over again. I am pretty sure you only see cop cars when you are breaking the law. But luckily, we didn't get pulled over. It was such a fun night. It was good to see Marie because she has been so sick lately being in the first trimester of her pregnancy, and I hadn't seen Lara since my recital. I love weekends!

Bad Morning

Do you ever have those mornings where you think you must have woken up on the wrong side of the bed? (that I guess is already true since Preston stole my favorite side of the bed, which I am pretty sure is the only argument he has truly won in our marriage) Any how today was just one of those days. I woke up about a quarter to eight to get ready for work. I walked into our kitchen to open the blinds and see the snow damage that I would have to scrape off my car. Well I heard running water. (never a good sound lately) Our apartment was flooding again!! I called up stairs to let them know and of course they went to the main water breaker and turned it off which was a good thing but left me with no running water. I stared at my toothbrush and the shower helpless. Well deciding I could shower at work if I hurried I threw on my clothes and left. Deciding the snow wasn' t that bad I took the volvo. Bad choice. I got stuck! I had to open and we had early clients. I called my owner to let her know and after taking a different way I finally made it to work. However I wasn't early by this point. So I looked and smelled pretty cute today. Seriously what are the odds?

Date Night

Last year we planned a big group date for ice skating and dessert. I think my favorite part was watching Mike eat an entire wall of chocolate at PF Changs which is quite the challenge. It ended up being a blast so we decided to go again this year. Well this year two of the couples ended up cancelling at the last minute so it ended up being Nicole and Bryce and us for ice skating. Well we found out that they closed in an hour and so we didn't think it was worth it. So we decided to go bowling and met up with Mike and Madison and Katie and Reed. We went to Fat Cats. I have to admit I am kinda partial to Olympus Hills. They told us that there weren't any lanes open when there were at least twelve open and they didn't play music. What is up with that? I am not the best bowler in the world. I will be the first to admit that and my score of 43 even proved it further. But the second game Nicole and I tied and beat our hubbies and almost broke 100! I even got two strikes! We went to Applebees for dessert. It ended up being a great night! It was good to see friends that we don't see very often.

How to Ring in the New Year

New Year's appears like such a glamorous holiday with beautiful gowns, parties, and kissing prince charming at midnight. Yet every year it seems to be a let down. Some previous experiences include being stood up on New Year's, being the only grandchild at the extended family party (keep in mind I am the oldest), or having someone that I was dating leave at 11:30 just to name a few. Well this year was going to be great. I had a prince charming to kiss at midnight, and we made plans with our friends Em and Ryan. We were supposed to have it our place, but it has been a mess since the flood so we had it at Em's. We brought delicious cookies, chips and salsa, and we brought some raspberry sparkling cider imported from France. Em and Ryan had quite the delicious delights from her mom's bakery. (none of which I ended up eating) Well we started to play games, and I began to get a tummy ache. Well it got worse, until I finally ran to the bathroom, and not only had diarrhea, but also threw up (my personal favorite). Well after emerging feeling clammy and digusting, I found out I had rang in the New Year in the bathroom. Awesome! And to top it off I threw up on the side of the road that night, which I am sure other cars were thinking, "stupid drunk girl." Well I spent a great deal of the night in the bathroom, and with a fever. The next morning we had plans to go up to our friends cabin and go sledding. Well I still felt exhausted from being sick and my legs felt like jello; even walking into the next room felt like quite the feat ( I can't imagine being old.) So we had to cancel sledding, and I had to listen to my husband complain all day that I just had to get sick on his day off. (as if I planned it!) Well I am happy to report I am almost better, and we are going ice skating tonight. I didn't even have to look through the closet to find my ice skates they were already out! (remember that the apartment flooded) Oh and one last update from the flood. Our furnace stopped working too! But we got it fixed :-)
